New Jersey's Urban Enterprise (UEZ) Authority (enacted in 1983) is in the Department of Community Affairs. It exists to foster an economic climate that revitalizes designated urban communities and stimulates their growth by encouraging businesses to develop and create private sector jobs through public and private investment. The UEZ Program does this by offering participating businesses incentives that encourage business growth and stimulate local economies. Some of the incentives include the ability for participants to pay reduced, or in some cases, tax exemptions on items purchased to improve the business; access to local and state grants that help develop and retain businesses, and assistance from the New Jersey Department of Labor through its One Stop Centers in hiring, training, and retraining existing or new employees to name a few. In New Jersey, there are over 6,700 certified UEZ businesses that participate and benefit from the advantages of the program.
With the launching of their Facade Improvement Program, Humanity Pictures has been asked to produce several videos highlighting participants that are part of the UEZ and the positive impact membership has had on their business.
